My cat is in love with this scratcher
We purchased new couches, and I was trying everything to stop the cat from scratching at the backs of the couches. I purchased this cardboard scratcher as a temporary idea and placed it near the couches. Shockingly, it has worked amazingly well. The cat sleeps in the bottom box-like portion all the time and she loves the high part of the scratcher that is against the wall.Pros:- The scratcher is easy to assemble and comes with absolutely everything you need to put it together in about 2-3 minutes- Lightweight and can be easily moved around the house to the area in need it to be to deter scratching on the furniture- The box that supports the scratcher catches ALL the little cardboard flakes that get scratched off – the best part of all, since I don’t have to spend time every day vacuuming up tiny bits of shredded cardboard off the floor- Seems like it will last awhile, the cat has been using it for a full week, multiple times a day, and it looks barely touched. If I only have to buy one or two a year, it will definitely be an economical choice.Cons:- You might have to buy multiple scratchers if you have multiple cats. My one cat spends so much time here that she probably wouldn’t share if we had another cat- Its a cardboard scratcher, so it has to be replaced more frequently than other scratchers made of wood, and carpet, and sisal.Overall, I absolutely, highly recommend this scratcher!!! As a foster cat parent, I’m on a constant quest to train the kitties to scratch appropriately. A pretty simple method is to reward them like crazy when they use a scratcher, and IGNORE them if they use anything else. (You’d think you’d spray them with water or something but I find that ignoring bad behavior works best). I put this scratcher near our carpeted staircase, the latest target of our current foster, and as soon as she got near it I praised her and gave her a treat. Then when she sat on it – praise, treat. Then when she gave it even the tiniest scratch? Praise and treat! Within just a day or two she had transitioned fully from the carpets to this (of course I try to “treat” her quite regularly to keep the behavior going). At first I thought this scratcher would be too small – she is about a 14 pound cat – but she seems to like it just fine! It does seem a little pricey, but not nearly as pricey as replacing my carpet.

My Cat Approved This Message
A cardboard scratcher for cats, what’s not to love? 100% sure I put this together wrong but my cats literally don’t care. They were on it the second I put it down. The *screws* were a little difficult to get in but otherwise it’s a 5 minute project. The cats haven’t scratched the top as much as they do bottom part but that’s probably just because it’s easier and flat. It’s also pretty sturdy but with cats and cardboard who knows how long it will survive.

Cat’s Are Happy
This was very easy together comes with plastic screws and a little screw driver to use to do it with. Took me about 7 minutes to assemble. I have a lot of cardboard scratchers for my cats. I like that this one gives them a vertical surface in addition to the horizontal one. My cats took to it right away. I am happy they are happy.

The L-shaped design provides great stability, even when my cat scratches with full enthusiasm. It doesnât tip over or slide around. The corrugated cardboard is dense and durable, so I am hoping it will last longer than other scratchers Iâve tried. Itâs large enough for my adult cat to stretch out and scratch comfortably, which she absolutely loves. It works well both vertically and horizontally, offering variety and keeping my cat entertained. Since introducing this scratcher, my door frames have been spared from claw attacks.

This was very easy to put together. It has plastic screws that insert along the sides and get it set up for the base and top to be in perfect cat scratch stretch position. My cat personally has not found this to be nearly as enticing as the actual furniture so far, but she is still young so we are going to keep trying to teach her to use it. She does like to go sit on it sometimes, especially now that we put it up against the wall. If it is free-standing in the middle of a room, they may try to climb it and have it flop over onto their self and scare or hurt their self. That was our experience anyway. So, it is better to have than not as cats need to scratch to help their need to scratch as well as their need to stretch out their bodies for optimum health.
