Iâve been eyeing this particular JW Pei style for months. Itâs a highly underrated bag â youâll see few reviews on TikTok and IG for this. But as itâs reminiscent of Aesther Ekme and The Row, at this price point ($129CAD) I had to give it a try.First, the color. Itâs a rich cognac shade that will do just as well this summer as it will in the fall (although my palette is pretty consistent year round â Iâm in neutrals in any season). It does lean ever so slightly orange, depending on what youâre wearing it against. Although Iâm typically averse to orange, itâs not so much that it bothers me. And the gold hardware is not gaudy at all; itâs soft and subtle and just right.Next, the shape and size. The asymmetry is so much fun. It fits comfortably over the shoulder, even with a thick jacket or sweater. If you carry a lot, youâre not going to be satisfied with the capacity of this bag, but if youâre like me and only carry a card case, keys, lip gloss, mints, AirPods and a lot of loose, forgotten receipts, itâll do just fine. The photo Iâve posted shows how a card case fits at the highest point. Lots of room.The zipper is smooth, too. No issues there.Overall, for a little over $120, itâs a sound purchase. I must have a thing right now for what a friend calls âcrooked handbags,â because this is guaranteed to be in regular rotation with my black Ekme Lune (crooked) and my cream Staud Acute (crooked). Way cheaper than those two, though, so for now, JW Pei for the win.

Really impressed with the quality of this bag for the price. Reviews about faulty zips, etc put me off as I’m quite particular but it’s come out of the packaging looking mint. Perfect for a night out – fits a regular-sized iPhone, makeup and keys. Arrived next day!
