Works well with a connection caveat
I just installed 12 units in my house. As a background, I had a different brand installed in my house and second home. All worked well. After a year or so, my wifi was upgraded at my house. Now I coukd not reconnect the units to the wifi in my house. But the units continued to work at my second home. So, after not having leak detectors for some time, the hose on our dishwasher broke and was flooding our kitchen. Luckily I was right there when it happened and shut the water down, which brings me back to how important leak detectors are. So after searching, I decided on the Moen. I easily installed all 12 Moen units. One did come with a dead battery. The issue I see that many have is that these units have to connect up to Wifi 2.4 and not your general 5.0 wifi. And some wifi appliancees out there are pretty âpickyâ on which 2.4 works. Thatâs my experience. These Moen installed easily, as my 2.4 wifi worked well with them. My experience has been some brands will work with my wifi and others wonât. Iâm lucky with the Moen.I also tested one by purposely putting a very slight film of water around a detector. And it worked flawlessly by sending an alert. I also liked the app very much. Gives you the temp and humidity. And you can set the type notifications and what info.So far Iâm very pleased. Just be aware of those who had trouble connecting or staying connected. Comes down to the quality of their Wi-Fi. Like I said, some brands will work for you, and others wonât. Iâm happy.

Great product. Company response to a problem was quick.
This was easy to set up. Everything went well and showed as working well. About a week after one of the detectors went offline. I tried everything but couldn’t get it to connect again. I ordered a new battery and put that in. Still no connection. I followed all the instructions and have discovered that this detector (1 of the 3 in the package) is just defective. Iâm editing this review now as the company quickly responded and replaced the broken unit. Iâve had no problems since.

Beware of Amazon “Used – Like New” for this item
I’ve had a Moen Flo smart shutoff valve for about 4 years and overall pleased. We had to replace the internal impeller recently due to corrosion of the sensors (known issue – Moen is aware). During the repair of the impeller we decided to order the 3-pack Moen Leak Detectors from Amazon and found a Used-Like New deal that seemed reasonable. I let the box sit for a few weeks before opening and installing – big mistake! Read the many reviews about damaged boxes, dead batteries, loose or broken battery connection tabs, units disconnecting, etc…. I’ve had all of these problems. The product box was very banged up, the plastic battery tabs were removed on all 3 units and one of the batteries was completely DOA, all 3 units had damage to the metal tabs that make contact with the battery and hold it in place. Since it’s beyond the return window, I was able to bend the battery tabs back into place on 2 of the units and get them to work, but the 3rd unit is completely useless. The pairing process is not difficult if you remember to use a dedicated 2.4G wifi SSID, and the Flo app is not terrible, but not great either. I’ve had both functioning units randomly disconnect from the network and I’m still troubleshooting. I’ve not tested them with a simulated leak event yet as I’m deciding whether the keep the 2 of 3 that are sort of working, or give up and kick myself for not opening the box before the return window closed.

They work great, though installation could be smoother
I just set up these Flo by Moen sensors. They appear to be working fine, but I was really unimpressed with the setup process that kept failing. Eventually it worked.Pros- Compact water leak sensor that can be placed directly on the surface, or connected to a remote sensor (included).- Audible alarm, not terribly loud, and alerts on my phone. But if set up properly you will be notified- Integrates with the Flo by Moen water shutoff valve to turn water off automaticallyCons- Installation/Configuration process is a little janky. You have to connect to a local device provided WiFi network to configure, but also need to have internet access. I had well over a dozen failures during configuring the three sensors I purchased. Just a little frustrating, and they should wait until after you connect the device to your WiFi network to update firmware as it would go much smoother.- Plan on replacing the batteries before you install them, mine were at 64%, 47% and too low to even connect to. Also, one unit had the battery contacts spread so wide that there was over 1/8″ gap between the battery and the second contact. Easy fix, but that should not happen on a new device.- I would prefer that I did not have to use their cloud service to get these working, I would much prefer local connection so it would work fully if the internet was out. Just a personal preference.

Excellent product!
Excellent product even without the main shut off valve. I’ve had these for several months so far. They were very easy to install and easy to set up with wifi. They never seem to go offline either. I’m very impressed!! The sensors pick up even a drop of water. I had thrown a wet shower cap under my sink along with all my other toiletries and even the few drops that fell from the shower cap was detected. I got a alert on my app and an email alert. I’m definitely going to consider investing in the shut off valve.My only complaint is that the sticky pad that holds the sensor box on the wall is VERY WEAK! The stick doesn’t hold up for more than an hour. Moen should consider correcting this. Otherwise, it’s an excellent product! It still works well and does the job even when not stuck to the wall so it deserves 5 stars. You can’t go wrong with this!

As an add on to the Flo sensor it works great going around the hole for our sump pump. Very sensitive so when testing just make a spot damp. It will keep going off until dry lol

Took me only a few minutes to get everything setup and working. I’m monitoring for water leak and temperature in the garage during winter in case of freezing. I’m also monitoring temperature/humidity and water leak in the basement near the water heather and the main entrance. I spilled water in the garage near the sensor the other day and I immediately received the SMS alert and app notification of a water leak. Great stuff, I highly recommend it, I’m less stressed about water leak and winter freezing the pipes because of a heating system failure now that I have this that can monitor both and alert me through multiple means (sms, email, phone call, app notification). Their system can also alert you if the devices did not report to their system recently so you know something failed or is not working or you have a power loss, good job Moen !

After reading good reviews of this product ordered a box of three. The instructions, received upon arrival said “download associated app before unpacking” .Went to Google playstore. App “not available in your region”. Huh? Tried using another device. Same. Went to company website. Very unhelpful, and trying to find email contact almost impossible. After 30 mins tracked one down. Fired off email. 24 hours later no reply. Resorted to social media. At last a response: “Android App only available in US and Canada”. Well what a waste of time that was. Product therefore almost useless and returned. Luckily the seller was superb and understanding and refund easily obtained.So don’t buy if you want the product to work with the android app!!

Used in the water leak subsystem of my home automation system. Tried several commercial water leak detection products but all came with a discrete sensor that only detects a leak if placed in a depression under the source. This sensor cord is so much better as it is 6 feet in length and can be connected in a chain of up to 3. It can detect water leaks along its whole length. Uses. Standard 3.5 mm connection. I have this connected via low voltage wiring to an ESP32 microcontroller that can handle 5 of these detector cords For most non-diy people, I would suggest replacing the discrete sensor that comes with most leak detection products with this cord sensor. Those discrete sensors are not very useful where you are not able to place them in sump directly under your washing machine for example. They are likely to miss small leaks but would work well if a pipe burst…
