Simple, easy to use
We’ve been using this monitor for almost three years, and it’s been great. Simple, not a lot of features, but it’s sturdy and has clear enough image/sound and pretty good range. The battery life is relatively short (maybe 6 hours?), but I keep it plugged in almost all of the time so it doesn’t bother me. I’m glad I didn’t spend twice as much on a more elaborate system.We take it with us when we travel (family visits, vacations, etc), so I especially appreciate the durability.

We’ve been using this product for a little over 4 months for our LO and it has been pretty perfect for our needs. We did shop around a bit to look for a possible wireless option afterwards, but ultimately ended up sticking with Infant Optics and purchased an add-on camera so we could cover both the baby room and our room. Thought we had a battery issue at one point, but that was quickly resolved by checking the battery and seeing that the cable had somehow come unplugged. Picture quality is great, love the features. Really the only thing I would love as an extra feature would be the ability to have a second monitor – I’ve been hogging the one monitor and I know my wife would love to have one also. When she demands it, she’ll get it – but that will leave me without one!————-*update* We’ve been using the DXR-8 for over a year now and it’s been the perfect solution for us. We’ve come to expect all of these features as standard, and recently even tried a different brand and found it lacking several of the features we assumed would be standard such as camera movement and temperature gauge. Anyway, I contacted customer support because we were thinking ahead to our next child (not even pregnant yet) – I worded my email in a way that merely said our existing unit was “starting to show some effects of use”…nothing terrible, just that we’ve had it over a year and wanted to see what it would take to purchase another monitor because currently amazon only offers the combo of monitor/camera and we already have three cameras for it. So in theory we should just be able to buy another monitor for a cheaper price. Anyway, customer service immediately asks what I meant by “starting to show some effects of use”. I explain that I had dropped the unit recently and the antenna had popped out a little, didn’t think it affect the functionality. The camera is working – but every so often it would pop an “out of range” kind of message. Usually normal when we’re in the basement but it happened a few times recently while in the room directly below the camera. Long story short, customer support said we were just out of warranty service period, but that they understood our issues and would be willing to send us a warranty replacement. They detailed the process – which involves us sending back the unit first. This was the only tricky part because we’d have to find a temporary solution in the meantime since we only have one monitor at the moment. We gave it a couple days to find a temporary solution then mailed the unit back. I just got word that they’re 2-day shipping the replacement to us. And, again, after using the temporary solution we’re finding out just how much we appreciate all the features on the DXR-8 unit. I couldn’t be happier with it. We’ll probably still buy a second unit to have two monitors going for two kids (they detailed an option to buy just a monitor for half price of the amazon combo with a 50% discount coupon they would send us). Highly recommend this product and this company!

We bought this over a year ago so this review is definitely overdue.The camera and monitor definitely deserve all the high praises theyâve received but what really sells me is Infant Opticsâ customer service. Iâve received quick responses and above and beyond assistance with my monitor and camera. I initially emailed with Emma to get help with signal and battery issues. Later in the year, I needed help again (it took me so long to contact her again because, well, I had a newborn) and she would patiently answer every question I had. When it came down to it, I had to have the monitor replaced. A little past my warranty, she still took care of it. She sent it out before they received the one I was sending back, AND…she threw in express shipping, because it would have been crazy to go without the monitor for more than a few days. Wow, Iâm impressed with theyâre service. I wouldnât go with any other company when it comes to baby monitors.Now, about the camera and monitor…The camera easily mounts on the wall without any extra accessories. The range is surprising. I can move the camera angle around to cover almost the entire room. And the camera is silent as it rotates so not to wake a sleeping baby. Iâm glad we got two cameras so I donât need to move it from rooms when she is sleeping in her bedroom to when she comes to work with me. They were so easy to set up and itâs simple to toggle back and forth between them.The monitor is clear and easy to use. I can see and hear my baby clearly and when I talk to her, my voice is just loud enough and audible. The alarm for low battery can be adjusted to off, low or high volume. A light panel lights up with noise so that I can see when sheâs awake or crying without having the volume turned up at work. The temperature and zoom features are an added plus. The signal is pretty good, better if the camera isnât set up too near anything that can interrupt it like a router or smart TV. But it easily reaches to a playroom 50 feet away with the door closed as well as up to her bedroom on the second floor. Occassionally, the monitor goes out of range (probably because thereâs a couple of things that may get in the way of the signal) but beeps to let me know and then jumps right back on in seconds. The battery lasts for a long time between charges now that Iâve had it replaced. Iâm extra careful not to leave it plugged in and overcharge it, just in case that may affect its life span.I canât say enough good things about this set and especially about the company.Iâm really glad we made this purchase!

Además no compres del vendedor: Uptowncomputer jamás que me envÃo un producto usado y defectuoso, no se conectaba bien la baterÃa y por lo tanto tampoco funcionaba el monitor que me enviaron. Al devolver el producto, lo cual me costo sobre â¬50, nunca me devolvieron el dinero y Amazon nunca me volvió a contactar sobre el tema. He peridodo aprox. â¬370 con la estafa.

We already have home security cameras at home that we use to monitor our baby when she’s sleeping. the reason why we bought DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens is because when we travel, we can’t bring those home security cameras with us. Previously what we did is we me and my wife video calls each other using both our phones, and use that as the temporary baby monitor when we travel and stay in hotels or b&b’s for example. The problem is 1) sometimes there’s no wifi 2) there is wifi, but we have to turn off the lights, our phones doesnt have night vision 3) we can’t use our phone since we’re using it as the baby monitor screen.DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens solves it all! One of the best investments when taking care of your small one!

Pros:This is a great, easy to use product. The range easily covers my average sized house. The mic picks up everything and the video quality is good and pretty smooth. Pan and tilt works great. It is very clever of them to market early 2000s computer hardware as a security benefit, which it is. No one is going to traumatize your child over the internet with this hardware. I like to use the speaker to wind up my wife but I’m not sure what other use it has.Thermometer in the camera is a great idea.Cons:The screen is very bright, even on the lowest setting. If you use it beside your bed you will need to turn it off.The buttons are hard to read even in good light. In low light it is impossible. Small white text on a grey background is not a good choice.The power supplies are both wall wort moulded plugs with barrel connectors. International buyers will need to replace them and this is tricky and will add around 30% to the total cost. I find this almost unforgivable because both units could run on standard USB power. The display power cable even has USB on one end but it plugs in to the unit with a barrel. Non USB power supplies for low voltage low power appliances need to stop.
