Easy Family Friendly Two Player Game With Flipper Paddles, a Swinging Pickle, and Pickle Jars
This review is for the Moose Toys Pickleball Blast game. I received a free taxable sample of this game to review in my search for a family friendly game to play during game night.The game comes in a branded and decorated box that can be used to store the game after play and can be gifted as is within a large gift bag with a gift tag or wrapped in gift wrap. The game has four main types of components not including the instructions: the pickle game board; net and swinging pickle; net stands with connectors; and paddles. The pickle game board weighs 384 grams and is made up of two tabbed printed cardboard bases with attached plastic pickle jars and swinging lids that interlock together to form a 23 ¼” x 10 ⅛” playing field. The centerpiece of the game is the 9 ¼” x 3 ½” plastic net which weighs 143 grams and features a swinging and rotating plastic pickle in the center. The net is connected to the game board by first pushing it into the net stands, threading the net stands through the game board, and locking the net stands in place using the plastic connectors. Each of the net stands weighs 18 grams and doubles as a score counter with a sliding arrow piece to keep track of 0-5 points. Once connected, each of the two players uses a paddle (34 grams, approximately 5” x 5”) to flip the pickle towards the opposing end in an attempt to spin the lid on one of the three pickle jars and score a point.The younger testers really enjoyed this game and the crazy twisting motion of the pickle as it tilted towards the opposite end. The overall theme with tongue-in-cheek and punny references really helped with our enjoyment of this game, and the younger testers particularly loved the funny expression on the pickle. I liked that the net is fairly secure on the game board and that the overall smooth movement of the pickle and good swinging action kept the players constantly engaged instead of having to wait a long time between turns. In fact, most of the time the younger players would lose themselves in the game and tend to push up on the paddles to hit the pickle instead of using only the paddle flipper to launch the pickle. A couple things to note are that all of the main pieces are fairly thick durable plastic and that the game can be separated into pieces for storage back in the box, but that the connectors are locked on fairly tight using plastic tabs which will probably break apart over time.All in all, this is a nice and easy-to-learn game that’s funny and family friendly. I recommend this as a good family fun option that takes pickleball to another dimension.

I liked the size of the game but disliked that it doesn’t fit back in the box once assembled unless you take it apart which is difficult.
